Meet Wim Hof.
Using training and meditation techniques that he claims he can teach to anybody, Hof has proven himself capable of controlling his body’s autonomic and immune systems in an amazing variety of challenges that would be deadly to most of us.
From allowing scientists to immerse him in ice for nearly 2 hours to prove that he could maintain his core body temperature to climbing Mount Everest in his shorts, Hof has shown himself to embrace the cold.
But he’s also able to direct his body to handle extreme heat, which he proved by running a marathon in the Namib Desert in southern Africa.
Hof’s story is simply amazing.
And true.
While those of you who know me know that I believe in the Bible’s account of creation rather than the theory of evolution, I recommend Scott Carney’s highly praised look into Wim Hof’s amazing story: What Doesn’t Kill Us: How Freezing Water, Extreme Altitude, and Environmental Conditioning Will Renew Our Lost Evolutionary Strength.
